A Love for Dogs Passed Down Through Generations
Growing up, my family instilled in me a deep love for dogs. I fondly remember going out with my grandfather and his Walkers. The hound that truly opened my eyes to why dogs are known as man's best friend was Bell. She was my grandfather's coonhound, and her passion for hunting was remarkable. What struck me most was the love she returned to us. Bell was not just an incredible coonhound in the woods; at home, she transformed into a lap dog who wanted to be part of everything.
The Inspiration Behind This Blog
I started this blog to raise awareness about dog breeds and share my personal journey with two rescued dogs. Both of them now proudly feature on our first branded shirts: Grace, our American Lab, and Bell, our Redbone Coonhound.
The Importance of Breed Awareness
Understanding different dog breeds is crucial for responsible ownership. Each breed has its own unique traits and needs. By sharing my experiences, I hope to educate others about the joys and challenges of owning working dogs and hound dogs.
My Journey with Rescued Dogs
Rescuing dogs has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Each dog has its own story, and they all deserve a loving home. Grace and Bell came to us with their own challenges, but they have brought immense joy and companionship into our lives.
The Role of Working Dogs in Our Lives
Working dogs play a vital role in our society. They assist in various tasks, from hunting to search and rescue. Their intelligence and loyalty make them invaluable companions. I believe that celebrating their contributions is essential, and that’s why I’m passionate about sharing their stories.
The Future of Our Brand
As I continue this journey, I aim to grow The Original Gundog brand. My goal is to become the go-to place for unique apparel that celebrates working dogs and hound dog culture. Additionally, I want to significantly increase our contributions to dog rescue organizations. Expanding our product line is also a priority, as I believe it will help us reach more dog lovers.
Upcoming Posts
Keep an eye out for my next post, titled "The Lost." It will tell the story of our old girl Sheltzie and her forever return to the wild.
In conclusion, my journey with dogs has shaped who I am today. I hope to inspire others to appreciate the bond we share with these incredible animals. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of dogs in need and celebrate the joy they bring into our lives.
